It has been a while since I pointed a camera towards an athlete. What most people don’t know is that my photography career actually started back in about 2009 shooting outdoor sports and adventure for athletes and brands.
Some highlights was working with Salomon Running global athletes, as well as some fledgling ultra running events that are now recognised globally. I soon moved to running brands and events exclusively, and by 2013 shifted to all types of businesses and brands. You could say that I learnt my photographic skills chasing very fast people everywhere across New Zealand.
In 2013 I established a New Zealand running brand called “Good People Run” that focussed on the running and art scene and where they overlapped.
For 2023 I’m aiming to cater to the sports world again and I’m very excited to be focussed back on this genre. The other evening it was great to help the legend Barrett Hocking, who not only plays trumpet for the Black Seeds, but is also a pretty capable multisport endurance athlete. Images will be used for his self promotion being supported by local outdoor shop FURTHERFASTER.
