I’ve got over 15 years of commercial photography experience and deliver on time and on budget every time.
background and experience
I’m based in beautiful Christchurch, New Zealand. I’ve been working professionally in photography for over 15 years, having started my career with a notable shoot documenting Salomon Running athletes at Mount Taranaki in 2010. My adventurous spirit was evident as I scaled the 2,500-meter volcano -solo at 2 AM to capture the perfect photograph. I’ve never looked back!
photography style and approach
My photography is characterised by its refined and distinct quality, which has earned the trust of more than 1,000 clients across New Zealand. I possess a unique ability to connect with people, making them feel comfortable during any photoshoot. This skill allows me to capture authentic moments that resonate with audiences. My positive attitude and adaptability enable me to work effectively in various environments, from corporate settings to rural locations.
I have a central Christchurch city studio where I offer headshots, a well as a thriving commercial event photography side hustle.
diverse skill set
Before focusing solely on photography, I had a diverse professional background that included roles in science, graphic design, IT, and social work. This varied experience contributes to my understanding of different genres of photography and enhances my ability to meet clients’ individual needs.
entrepreneurial ventures
In addition to my photography work, I have established multiple successful businesses over the years. These include a graphic design studio, photography tuition and workshops, and a running apparel brand called Good People Run.
personal interests
Away from the camera I’m a family man with a wife and teenage son. I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and mountain biking in the Port Hills and Southern Alps. I also maintain an extensive personal arts practice that fuels my creativity away from the commercial world. I’m a fan of music and have a decent vinyl record collection that I spin at both my home and photography studio. I love to learn and I have a degree in both photography (distinction) & Biochemistry (Hons.)
mentorship role
I actively contribute to the photography community by mentoring members of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP) and also offering private photography mentoring and tuition.
Overall, I’m recognised for an exceptional talent in capturing high-quality imagery that effectively communicates brands’ messages while fostering genuine connections with subjects.
supporting charity and profit frees
I believe in giving back so offer either pro bono or reduced rate photographic services to charities or profit free organisations when my calendar allows. Feel free to email me about this service.
