The information below provides additional clarity around bookings, photography, post-production, delivery, and project expectations.
Commercial Photography – Client Responsibilities
To achieve the best possible results, commercial photography is a collaborative process between the photographer and client.
The client is responsible for ensuring that:
- Locations are clean, tidy, and ready for photography prior to the scheduled shoot time.
- Staff required for photography are available, briefed, and willing to participate.
- Any customer interaction, team collaboration, or workplace scenarios required for marketing imagery are arranged in advance.
- Key personnel are available during the allocated photography time.
- Access to all agreed locations, vehicles, equipment, and workspaces is available.
- Any specific image requirements, priorities, or shot lists are communicated prior to the shoot.
Where these requirements are not available on the day, the scope and quality of imagery may be limited by the conditions present at the time of photography.
Photography time booked remains billable regardless of staff availability, participation levels, operational interruptions, or site readiness.
Clients are responsible for advising of any supplier onboarding, purchase order, procurement, compliance or extended payment requirements prior to confirming a booking. Requirements disclosed after confirmation may incur additional administration fees.
Booking and Project Information
On average a two hour commercial photoshoot with two hours of post editing for a business or brand yield on average 10 post edited images chosen from the collection. For a four hour brief 20 post edited images.
This is a guide though as each brief and commercial shoot is different. If you don’t have a commercial brief my business photography package may well suit better.
For events I will usually edit and send all images captured so volume can range from 50 – 300 + dependant on the duration, schedule, type of event and if there is a brief.
Project details including dates, times, locations, key people, deliverables, scheduling, and any specific requirements are generally confirmed during the quotation and booking process.
For clearer numbers of deliverables across all of my capabilities please view my pricing page.
Additional images from any session are currently $50 + GST each to cover additional professional post-production time.
My services include standard communication, photography time, gentle direction where appropriate, image selection support, and professional post-production.
Additional fees may apply for extensive rescheduling, expanded briefing requirements, urgent delivery requests, additional administration, or project coordination outside the original booking scope.
Planning and Creative Direction
Some projects are straightforward, while others may require additional planning before photography begins.
Where required, I can assist with creative direction, scheduling, logistics, image style, timing, locations, wardrobe guidance, team coordination, and intended outcomes to help keep projects calm, efficient, and aligned with the brief.
Additional planning, consultation, or creative direction may be billed separately at standard commercial rates where required.
Payment Terms and Administration
Payment expectations, invoice timing, purchase order requirements, supplier onboarding, and any internal approval processes should be discussed before a booking is finalised.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due within 7 days of invoice.
Where final images are supplied prior to payment, this does not waive the payment terms or any rights outlined in my official terms and conditions of engagement.
Additional administration may be billed at $75 + GST per administrative request where a booking requires supplier setup, vendor registration, purchase order processing, invoice amendments, internal compliance forms, extended email or telephone correspondence, payment chasing, or coordination with multiple internal stakeholders outside the original booking scope.
Overdue payments may incur interest at a rate of 2.5% per month, or part month overdue, together with any debt collection costs, related legal expenses, or additional administration required to recover payment.
Project Scope and Workflow
Photography often involves managing people, environments, lighting conditions, timelines, and the best experience for everyone involved.
Additional locations, expanded shot requirements, increased stakeholder involvement, revised scheduling, background changes, additional team members, extra production requirements, or significant project growth may affect timing, workflow, and project cost.
Where projects extend beyond the original agreed scope, additional time or services may be billed separately.
Documentary, Editorial and Event Photography
Documentary, editorial and event photography often involves working in unstaged environments, where moments cannot always be directed, repeated, controlled, or created on request.
While every effort is made to meet the brief, outcomes may be influenced by the time available, access, participant availability, event flow, natural timing, and what actually unfolds during photography.
In these situations, the full brief may not always be possible to achieve exactly as requested. The focus is on creating strong, authentic, useful images within the available conditions while respecting the subjects and environment.
Delivery is within 7 working days unless otherwise agreed.
Urgent bookings or faster turnaround incur an additional fee.
Image Selection and Delivery
The number of final edited images is discussed during the quotation or booking process and forms part of the agreed project scope.
During studio or on-location sessions, images may be reviewed tethered to a computer so everybody feels confident with the direction and outcome.
For larger projects, a secure online gallery may be supplied so preferred images can be selected prior to final post-production.
Please note: gallery images or tethered previews are selection previews only and have not yet received final colour balancing or retouching.
Skin tones, white balance, brightness, and overall consistency are carefully refined during final editing, so please focus primarily on selecting the expressions, moments, and images you like most.
Post-Production and File Supply
Final edited images are supplied as full-resolution JPG files.
RAW files are not included unless specifically discussed and licensed separately prior to photography.
Additional fees may apply depending on intended usage and the scope of the request.
Additional images from any session are currently $50 + GST each to cover additional professional post-production time.
Included post-production for portraits and headshots generally includes colour balancing, exposure adjustment, highlight adjustment, skin tidy, teeth whitening, hair tidy, and removal of fluff, hairs, and debris from clothing where appropriate.
Business and brand/ event commercial imagery has more extensive post editing in Photoshop such as reductive scene tidying (removal of cables and plugs, floor stains, distracting objects or people etc.), sky replacement, perspective adjustments for interior and exterior structures and the cleaning of grass verges on exterior buildings.
If more advanced Photoshop work is requested, such as reducing bags under the eyes, removing double chins, object removal, or body shape adjustments, this is billed at $75 + GST per image.
Subjects Under 18
Subjects under 18 require an accompanying adult during the session.
