In a world of increasingly artificial online content and profiles, authentic corporate and commercial photography matters more than ever. Real people, genuine connections and imagery that reflects the organisations behind them.
Having worked as a professional photographer for more than 15 years, I’ve photographed people across a wide range of businesses, corporate organisations and professional environments. Each commission offers an opportunity to document the people, places and culture that make an organisation genuine and human.
For me, corporate photography goes beyond creating attractive images. Much of my work involves understanding people’s personalities, reading their body language and helping them feel comfortable, seen and involved in the process. My photographs communicate that genuine connection to their clients and audiences, helping build engagement and trust.
That’s something AI-generated imagery cannot replicate. A machine can create a convincing image, but it cannot replace the interaction, trust and shared experience of photographing real people. I see this human approach as increasingly valuable for organisations wanting to stand out amongst the tidal wave of artificial content. Human to human.
These qualities matter when creating imagery for corporate websites, company profiles, marketing and internal communications. The photographs should reflect the people and organisation as they are, rather than presenting an artificial version of either.
My corporate photography work includes executive portraits, leadership teams, staff photography and people working within their professional environments.
Over the past four years, corporate portraiture has become an increasingly significant part of my practice. Alongside professional headshots, I create collections of business and brand portraits for organisations requiring consistent imagery across their communications.
My workplace photography documents people in their working environments, offering an authentic alternative to generic stock or AI slop imagery.
Conferences, presentations and company gatherings are another part of my practice. My dedicated corporate event photography website covers this work in more detail.
Every organisation has different requirements. Some need portraits for a website update, while others require a broader image library covering staff, workplaces, services and events. I approach each commission by considering how the photographs will be used.
In an increasingly automated world, I believe genuine photography has an important role in how businesses communicate with their customers, employees and communities. Real photographs of real people help establish credibility and trust, making authentic photography a more valuable marketing tool than ever before.
Looking towards 2027, I’m continuing to develop my corporate and commercial photography practice across Christchurch and throughout New Zealand, working with organisations that value authentic imagery and a collaborative approach. Business is better than ever, and keeping it human has been the key.
